The Upgrade Train Forum - ask your questions here!

Greetings AngelPoints clients. Many of you have been clients with AngelPoints for a couple of years and you are currently working with the original EVS. And, soon, many of your companies will be migrating to EVS ’07.

I manage AAA Volunteers for AAA of Northern California, Nevada, and Utah. AAA signed on with AngelPoints in January 2004. Since that time, AAA has leveraged the tools of AngelPoints to create a phenomenal employee volunteer program. In fact, earlier this year, AAA earned the prestigious Points of Light Foundation Award for Excellence in Workplace Volunteer Programs. We were proud to receive our award from President George Bush along with other AngelPoints clients including SRP – Salt River Project and McGraw-Hill companies.

AAA migrated to the new EVS ‘07 version in June of 2007. Your company will be migrating from the ol’ EVS version to the NEW EVS ’07 version of AngelPoints later this year or next year.

I’d be happy to entertain your questions and comments about transitioning from EVS to EVS ’07 on this AngelPoints community forum. And, if your company has already made the transition from the “old” to the “new”… I’d like to hear from you, too!

** So, are you worried about migrating to the new system?

(Don't worry. I was conveniently enjoying a two-week vacation in Florida when we transferred from the old to the new system.)

** Do you have questions about the new EVS ’07?

** Do you have questions about what the upgrade entails?

** Do you want to ask questions about EVS ‘07 features?

I invite you to join the discussion.

Hey Roger!
Over here at AngelPoints one concern I know I heard more than once from clients was the transfer of data (volunteer events/ rosters/hours/users) from their old site to the EVS '07 version site. Can you explain how this worked for you at AAA?

Thanks!

For AAA, the transfer of data was real easy. All volunteer hours, events, employees, organizations, and users transferred over without any problems. The only thing that I can think of that does not transfer to the new site was event “survey” results because AngelPoints has a different way of conducting surveys in EVS ’07.

AAA worked closely with AngelPoints Jeff Rudy to ensure the data that we were transferring from old EVS to EVS '07 was “good” data. We worked with Jeff and his team to get rid of the “bad” data. For example, “bad” data included duplicates of the same employee, mis-spelled community organizations that we served, employees not assigned to a specific geographic location, etc. It is important to transfer over clean information and AngelPoints works hard to ensure your new site is clean.

Lastly, when AAA of Northern California, Nevada, and Utah migrated from the old EVS to EVS ’07 in June 2007, I was on vacation for two weeks. In other words, I didn’t worry about a thing. I didn't have to worry. The migration was flawless.

Hey Roger,

I'm wondering about what changes you've seen in your own technical support for team members using the new version.

Internally here, we've seen a drastic reduction in the number of calls we get from the clients who have platinum support. The end-users it seems are really getting the hang of the new application fairly quickly. I'd estimate at least a 50% reduction in phone support and about the same with email support.

Tracy, there has been a dramatic reduction in "problem phone calls" since AAA of Northern California, Nevada, and Utah migrated from the ol' EVS to EVS '07.

Before EVS '07, if a AAA employee had trouble logging in, trouble finding their volunteer hours, trouble changing skills & interests, etc. we had to address all of those issues individually and it was time consuming. It was time consuming for us at AAA. And, it was time consuming for you folks at AngelPoints since we referred many of these problem issues to AngelPoints to resolve.

Now, with EVS '07, we have seen a 75% decrease in "problem issues." The new AngelPoints web site makes it so much easier for our employees to navigate the system and find the information they need to resolve their concerns. And, if our employees can't solve the issue on their own, they contact the AAA Volunteers department and we use the abundant tools of EVS '07 to resolve the issue for them.

In addition, the AAA Volunteers department had to rely on AngelPoints staff to help us with the look and design of our Web site. If we wanted something changed, AngelPoints had to do it for us. Now, with EVS '07, we are in control when it comes to adding/removing system managers, changing colors or fonts, adding/removing pictures, adding/removing content, etc.

In sum, EVS '07 is very, very user friendly. I really can't remember the last time I called Michael Bonacore of Mimi Linsmayer for "help."
