Corporate volunteer programs still address serious social issues. The difference is that today corporate volunteer programs are increasingly tied to specific business goals. They have become a part of a company’s mission, goals, and vision & values.

You can't think of volunteering as an employee benefit. It’s a strategy that should aim for the maximum social impact. Too often the focus is on the volunteer. The fact is nonprofits are resource constrained and current volunteering is inefficient and ineffective. We have a responsibility to the mission of the nonprofits to put people in roles that have the greatest impact.
